Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

BRIGHT EYES!

My Don King Impersonation

I think it is safe to say that my hair is NOT going to fall out! As a matter of fact it is getting thicker by the day. I will probably need a haircut very soon if it keeps growing at this rate. On bad hair days some people think I look a lot like this person, Don King. Who is he?

What did I do to deserve this?

Today has been a pretty relaxing day. Grannie, Poppa, and An Am came down to visit for the first part of the day. We enjoyed a lunch out at Applebees. Connor has been sleeping for 3 hours and Brad is out in the garage cleaning my car! WHAT did I do to deserve this? Brad got a new truck this weekend, so I think he felt like he should at least clean my messy car to make it somewhat pleasing to drive. The Volvo was needing too many expensive repairs, so we decided to trade it in to get a 4 door truck. There is room for all and we can haul stuff again this Spring! Mulching and planting season is almost here! YAAAAHH! I hope I have time to plant things this year. Last year I was pregnant and not feeling up to it. Our flower beds need some definite work.

Well, I am gearing up for the Oscars. That is about as exciting as it gets around here these days. Hopefully Connor will be a good boy so I can watch some of it. Have a GREAT week!

Three firsts

This week Connor had three firsts...

(1) He slept through the night for the very first time ever! Yeah! So far he has slept through the night for the past three. What a blessing! I feel like a new person having gotten so much sleep!

(2) He got his first cold. This hasn't been so pleasant. The poor guy got his first cold from me, so we have both been sick. I stayed out of work for a day so we could both get well. I got some antibiotics from the doc, but poor Connor is having to ride it out. He is still congested, but sounds SOO much better! He gags when he coughs and has thrown up several times. I feel so bad for him. However, he still smiles after it is over, so I know he feels OK.

(3) He got his first shots! Yikes! This actually wasnt as bad as I had expected. After the initial prick, it took him a minute to realize that it actually hurt. As soon as I picked him up he stopped crying. He was such a brave boy! 4 shots is more than I would even want to tolerate! His weight at his 2 month checkup was a whopping 12 lbs and 8 oz! I new he was a big boy, but I couldnt believe it! He is in the 75th percentile for his weight! He got a good report from the doctor and she said his lungs sounded good. This was a relief for me since all of the sickness is going around.

Well, I will try and do better about posting next week. It has been crazy since we have all been sick. Love to all!

Smiley Boy!

My New Hat

I wore one of my new hats today! As you can see, I thought I looked silly. I dont know why my Mommy made me wear it but I was not very happy about it. Mommy told me to thank my An Am for my new outfit. I will wear it again for you to see, without the hat!

Trying to get some cleaning done

I got this carrier from my Aunt Linda and keep forgetting to use it. Connor likes to be held most of the time, so I decided to use this the other night when I needed to do some cleaning. The things you do to get things done...

Whew...What a week!

Well I survived... My first week back to work was a whirlwind. Kudos to all of you fulltime working Mommy's with babies! I honestly dont know how you all do it. I feel like I have been hit by a truck from having about 4 hours of sleep each night! Connor picked a heck of a week to have a growth spurt. He is eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hours again at night! I felt like a zombie every morning, but there was no time to be tired. We are moving into a new office tomorrow and guess who had to coordinate it all? You guessed it, me. I hired the moving company before I went on maternity leave and expected to be going back to work to the new office. However, everyone who knows anything about new construction knows that it is always delayed about 3 months longer than they tell you. I just happened to be lucky enought to go back to work the exact week of the move. Every day I had to pack and do various things to allow the transition to go smoothly. And I thought moving into a house was hard! I never realized all of the little details that go into moving offices, such as computer and phone lines being down, new buisness cards, ordering new furniture, getting 9 new keys and access cards, and orchestrating how the movers go through a brand new building with marble floors- just to name a few. I think I remembered to do everything because I wont be there tomorrow when the move actually takes place since Connor doesnt go to daycare on Fridays. I cant wait to be able to sleep in a little in the morning, if Connor will allow. It is going to be awesome!

Also this morning we woke up to snow covering the ground! It was so pretty and Cooper loved playing in it before we left for work. He was very angry when I made him come in. I actually had to coax him with a treat and pick him up to get him in. I must say that I honestly feel like I have two children sometimes because Cooper can be very high maintenance. It never fails that as soon as I sit down to nurse Connor, Cooper goes to the door barking to go out. Your probably thinking I could ignore him right? Wrong, he just sits at my feet barking until I let him out. Oh well, I guess I better get used to it for when Connor gets bigger and I have another baby to feed.

Connor does great at the sitters house. I honestly dont know what I would have done if I hadnt found Ms. Betty! She is awesome! She is so calm and understanding. I think I called her a million times that first day and she didnt seem to mind at all. She kept a log of his first day which I thought was very impressive. I think I have it bad, she keeps several toddlers at her house everyday and now has a new baby thrown into the mix. I dont know how she does it. Somehow she manages to keep everyone happy. She has three kids of her own, 2 of which are in school and 1 that is 10 months old. Her two oldest girls are so sweet and love Connor! They have nicknamed him "Chubby Cheeks". They love to watch him and hold the passy in his mouth.

Well, I am off to feed Connor and then to bed. Have a good Friday and weekend!

Valentines Day

Here are some pictures of my beautiful flowers from Connor and Cooper on Valentines Day. Brad said that Cooper was nice enough to loan Connor some of him allowance money to buy them. Everyone who knows me well enough, knows that gerbera daisies are my favorite! They were delivered to me at work and I was so surprised. Hope your sweethearts were good to you this year!

Happy Belated Valentines Day!!!!!

I am 2 months old!

Connor is 2 months old today! He is really starting to grow and is a very happy little man. He smiles and coos all the time now. As you can tell, I am feeding him very well. We dont go to the doctor until next Monday so I dont know what his weight is. I weighed him on my scale here at home and it said 12 pounds! His hair is getting longer by the day, and can be quite unruly most of the time. I have resorted to putting Aveda hair products in it to tame it down a bit. Everyone keeps saying that he will lose most of it, but I dont think he has lost a strand yet. It is still very thick, even in the back. He is getting stronger and I dont think it will be much longer till he is holding his head up.

Well, I wanted to get a post in this week before I start to work tomorrow. I am dreading it terribly, but I know he will be well cared for. I just hope the adjustment goes smoothly. Brad is going with me tomorrow to drop him off. He said he wants to make sure that I leave him and actually go to work... He doesnt have much faith in me, hugh. Bye for now!

Who do you think I look like?

I loved Carrie's last post on her blog so much that I decided to do it too. Since I am hearing so many different opinions about who Connor looks like these days, I thought I would ask all of you too! Connor will change more as time goes by, but I thought it would be fun anyway. What do you think?

Connor's many smiles

As you can see Connor is really starting to interact more with toys and people. Here are some pictures of Connors laughs and smiles. What you cant see, is that I am holding up a fingerpuppet that Connor just loves!

Connor will be 2 months old on Monday! I cant believe it! I am going back to work starting on Tuesday. I will be working part time, but it is going to be tough to be apart from him for 20 hours a week. I will try to do new posts as often as I can, but it may be harder once I go back to work. I will try though. Bye for now!

Brotherly Love

Cooper just loves his new baby brother! Right now, he just looks at him and gives him an occasional kiss on the foot, hand, or mouth! Yesterday I actually caught it on camera. What you cant see is that right after Cooper landed the kiss on Connors mouth, Connor smiled and let out a cute laugh! It was so adorable, I had to share.

Superbowl Sunday

Today I watched the Superbowl at Chandler, Michelle, and Maddy's house. I know the Titans didnt make it, but I didnt have any Colts gear. Way to go Peyton! As you can tell I am pooped from my busy weekend!

Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmothers house we go...

This weekend Connor went to visit his Grannie, Poppa, and An Am in Rockwood. He had a wonderful time and even got to meet a few new faces; his Great Aunt Benita, Great Uncle Brian, Great Aunt Susie, Cousin Rachel. He also got to see Matthew, Pam, and Cousin Kaitlyn again too! Here are a few pictures of our trip. Cooper made a pit stop at Nonna's house and played with Birdie for the weekend. As you can see he has been promoted to the front seat of the car. He loves it!
