Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

From here to there...

Connor is on the move! He has learned how to scoot himself to the top of his bouncy seat and scoot across the living room floor! I layed him on the blanket to play and went in the kitchen to clean, when a few minutes later I heard a cry. I went into the living room and to my surprise he had scooted off of the blanket and under his swing and bumped his head on the bar on the floor! Now he scoots everywhere! I am having a hard time changing his diaper on his changing table because he trys to get away. I guess I can expect for this to get more difficult as time goes on. I will try and enjoy this little time I have left before he learns to crawl, Oh boy!

Idol Critic

Ok, I cant hold it in anymore. WHAT is Sanjaya still doing on the show? I just really dont understand it! I think it is doing a complete injustice to the rest of the people on the show, who actually HAVE talent! I really hope that I am not offending any of you that like him. Obviously somebody does, otherwise he wouldnt still be on the show. Oh well, we are all entitled to our own opinions I guess. I just read this article on MSNBC (see below) and it struck me as quite humorous! I am routing for Blake, Gina, and Melinda (the hometown girl)! I like them all, but I think Melinda is absolutely awesome!!!

Sanjaya Malakar, 17, Federal Way, Wash.: It’s like Malakar knows that he can’t do anything to get voted off the show, and wants to test exactly how far he can press his luck. He picked “Bathwater” by No Doubt, sang with what looked like a dead bird on his head, and was pretty much a mess until the last 10 seconds of the song. “It’s a hard song, and he chose it … so good luck for him,” Stefani said before the performance. But clearly Malakar already has more luck than a gaggle of leprechauns, or he would have been gone weeks ago. Grade: DStay or go? “I don’t think it matters what we say anymore,” Simon said. He’s probably right. But there’s no reason that he should still be around next week if voters make their pick based on performance.

Trip to Rockwood

This weekend we went to Rockwood to visit Grannie, Poppa, and An Am (and many others). Connor is really starting to recognize faces and really investigate everything! He has discovered his feet and hands (you will see this in some of the pictures), as well as his tougue! The weather was great, so Connor got his first look at the lake and the beautiful East Tennessee landscape. We had so much fun spending time with family that we don't get to see enough! We miss you guys and cant wait till the next visit in a couple of weeks!!

Time for another baby! (dont get any ideas, its not from me!!!)

This weekend we also attended Lacy's baby shower! It was so much fun visiting with some very special friends that we dont get to see very often. I miss you all soo much! Casey, you are going to have to get on the ball so we can get back together for your baby shower! Ha!!!

Lacy looked so beautiful and definitely has the pregnancy glow going on! She got soo many cute things and I had lots of fun shopping for GIRL clothing! I cant wait till Kiley gets here!!! Darby has already arranged Kiley's marriage to Connor, the only problem will be where will they live? Tenn, Florida?

Connor had great fun meeting lots of pretty girls! It must have taken a toll on him because he has slept ALL DAY and slept through the night last night! I am little worried that I might have a night owl later on.

Love to all of my friends! I hope to see you all again soon!
Lacy- Good Luck! You are in the home stretch! Hang in there! I will be praying for you and precious Kiley!

Easter pics

Here is the link to for Connor's Easter pictures... http://www.alloganphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/2605109#P-1-9

Connor wasn't in the best of moods at the time but there are some good shots. Also, the two boys before Connor are the little boys of friends of mine. The boy in the overalls is Brock (my neighbor Rachel's little boy). The next pictures are of Jonathan (my friend and coworker Adriane's little boy). These pictures are just precious and I look forward to doing this again next year!

Connors 3 month pictures

Ok, this time Connor's pictures werent quite so eventful. He actually did great! I think it helped that he had a good nap on the way down there and we fed him right before the shoot. He smiled the whole time! All of his pics turned out soo good, I dont know how I will choose. Connor is having his pictures made AGAIN today with "real" bunnies, chickens, and a baby lamb for Easter! Those will be available to see online, so I will post the link as soon as I get it.

FYI-I will probably have to do several posts to get all of the good ones on here. Enjoy!!!

HELP! I need some hair advice...

As you can see my hair is being rather unruly these days! It keeps getting longer and won't seem to lay down in the back. Mommy says I might get my first haircut soon...

Mommy...Not another picture!!!

3 months old!

Connor was 3 months old yesterday! He is getting bigger and HEAVIER! I know this very well because he wants to be held ALL the time! It makes it very difficult to do things so I do them with a little extra weight! Here are some of the latest picture of our sweet little man.

Mothers exercising with babies

In my days before Connor, I used to see programs on TV promoting moms to exercise using their babies as weights. You know what I am talking about, right? Well, I used to make fun of this and think to myself that surely one could find at least 30 minutes to exercise a day even with a baby to care for. Now I am eating my words, as I cannot seem to find time to burn off the rest of this baby weight. Every day I take out my old pair of size 8 jeans and try them on just for kicks. The result is always the same- too tight to go up over my thighs, butt, and the belly flap (as I call it). At first I used to look down at it and think it was kind of sweet because my little Connor used to be in there and I know the skin had to expand to make him big and strong. Now I dont think it is all that sweet anymore! I am sick of it. It doesnt help that 3 days a week I have to actually try to look attractive in clothes to go to work. I have about 5 outfits that I can wear then I have to start the cycle all over again. Anyway, what I was getting at is that I now realize how hard it is to try to fit time in for yourself to exercise. Every week I think "OK, this is the week." and then nothing... Well yesterday as I was trying to fit some time in my busy day to spend with Cooper (our dog) I went outside in my heels from work, while holding Connor in the process and threw frisbee for Cooper. It is his favorite thing to do and it makes me sad that I dont have much time to do it for him anymore. Well I was bending down to pick up the frisbee every time holding Connor and MAN did I get a great workout! Those baby lunges made me very sore the next day! Now I see what all of those workouts were about. Today I might start using Connor as a dumbbell. Ok seriously... maybe not. I am going to attempt to get on the treadmill later on though. Hopefully the weather will be nice again this week and I can go for more walks outside with Cooper and Connor! Hopefully I will get to wear my capri pants soon!

Heartburn=Hair? I am living proof!

My Mom recently brought to my attention that they have proven that there is a link between pregnant women who had lots of heartburn that had babies with lots of hair. I had always read that this was an old wives tale in the books when I was pregnant. Believe me, I checked into it because I had TERRIBLE heartburn when I pregnant. This was a problem I had never experienced before so it was very uncomfortable for me on top of all the other pregnancy symptoms one has. I ate Tums like it was candy and heaven forbid that I ran out while at work. I would have to leave to go to the nearest quik mart and get some! One day I was in a staff meeting at work and I had to leave the room to go to the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up, it was soo bad! Anyway, I thought it was interesting when I heard that the doctors at the prestigious John Hopkins University actually did a study on this and proved that there is something to this. They were shocked at the discoveries they found. Here are some of the articles I have found and a picture of Connor to prove that the theory was VERY true in my case! I will have to say that I LOVE Connors hair and I guess if I had my choice I would put up with it again to get it!

Spring is near!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring! Today was a warm and beautiful day! Brad had a Engineer Awards Banquet to go to tonight. Since I didnt have to worry about dinner, Connor and I decided to go for a stroll. Not sure why but walking is so much more enjoyable now that I have a stroller and a baby to push around! If any of you know anyone who is having a baby, I strongly recommend our Chicco stroller. It is awesome! Connor just loved riding in his stroller, he laughed and cooed for a long time looking around at the scenery. He hasnt spent much time outside since he was a December baby. I cant wait for Summer so I wont have to worry about keeping him bundled up all the time. Hopefully the rest of the week is supposed to be more of the same. Happy Spring!!!

My 1st Piggy Bank

My Aunt Hillary bought me my first piggy bank! She even gave me a penny to put in it. I cant wait to start earning an allowance so I can start adding more coins. Daddy thinks I might be able to mow the yard this summer. Mommy is not so sure...

How many people does it take to dress a baby...

This weekend Uncle Brett and Aunt Hillary came to visit us. We went to dinner and when we got home it was time to dress Connor for bed. I just couldnt resist taking these pictures! Connor had so much fun during the visit and I loved having the help! Connor has been a somewhat difficult baby these past few days. Of course, I have been telling my Mom and everyone about it and when they came down on Saturday, Connor was a little angel! He definitely made a fool of me!
