Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

Connor's New Paci!

As you can tell Connor has a new pacifier (a.k.a. his big toe!!!) He just goes to town sucking on that thing! It is so funny! He is also getting very good at sitting up by himself, although we still use the Boppy in case he decides to topple on over! I cant help but wonder if that is because he carries most of his weight on top (a.k.a. big gourd!) Ha ha! It is funny to say, but it is SO true! Oh well, we just know he is going to be a genius one day with all of those brains in there! LOL

Connor is still as happy as ever, but he is starting to be pretty demanding during the day. Can I just say he has a severe case of "separation anxiety"! The doctors and books have warned me about it but I wasn't quite prepared for this! I cant seem to get anything done during the day, and even Ms. Betty is having to carry him on the hip all day! I know this is just a phase, but I am ready for it to end SOON! Well off to do some more cleaning at 10:30 (I have to take advantage of the time when he is asleep!) Good night all!

Lil' Yankee fan OR Lil' Braves fan

Only time will tell... Of course this a source of family feuding around here! The Thompson's will raise him to like the Braves, while the Neal family will try and brainwash Connor into routing for the Yankees! Well, either way Connor looks adorable in his baseball gear!

Connor meets Great-Grandma Hill!

Yesterday Connor's Great Grandma flew in from NY and Connor got to meet her for the very first time! He has been looking forward to this for a long time! She hurt her back and had to have surgery right before Connor was born and this is the first time she has been able to travel the long distance. She is going to be here for two weeks so I will have plenty of pictures to post later, I am sure! Here are some of the first time she got to hold him and of Connor with his first baseball glove and ball (a gift from Great Grandma)! Can you tell we are a baseball family?!

This is a FIRST!

6 months to the day (literally) Connor fell asleep by himself for the first time ever! I put him in his crib to watch his "rainforest" so I could do a few things before I put him to bed and when I returned he was fast asleep! His foot was still propped up on the button that turns it on and off. He loves to lay this way when he is watching it. Unfortunately, I still had to wake him up so I could nurse him one last time before bed. Oh well, maybe next time... Notice the little belly hanging over his waistband!

I am 6 months old today!

Wow, he is growing!!!

Brad's 1st Fathers Day!

Sunday we spent the day in Rockwood on the lake with Granny, Poppa, and An Am. It was a beautiful day (of course HOT) but thank goodness their yard is filled with lots of very large shade trees! Connor was introduced to the lake and seemed to enjoy it. He was so cute kicking his little feet like he had done it a thousand times before! I think he is going to be a natural in the water. We had a great Sunday dinner and it was a wonderful day to celebrate the fathers in the Thompson family!

Saturday's Celebrations!

On Saturday we celebrated 2 birthdays, and all of the incredible Father's in our family at my Aunt Jolene and Uncle Carson's house. It was Pawpaw's 74th birthday and Mom or (aka Nonna's) birthday- better not tell you the age, lets just say it is under 50! It was a great day filled with food, food, and more food! We had two homemade cakes and two choices of homemade ice cream! You can tell what gets me excited! It was delicious! Here are some pictures from the day!

Summer- Here I come!

FYI

I was trying to think of a way to let everyone know and I thought that doing a post on here might be the best way to get the word out. For all of our family and friends who call us, we have decided to cancel our home phone due to the fact that we just dont use it enough to keep paying a monthly bill for it. You can still contact us on our cell phones if you need to reach us. If you dont have that number, leave me a comment with your email address and I will send it to you. Thanks!

Happy Fathers Day!

Since we will be traveling tomorrow I thought I would wish everyone a Happy Fathers Day today! I will post pics from the weekend next week!

Brad- Happy 1st Fathers Day! You have been a wonderful Dad to Connor! He loves you very much!

Happy Birthday Mom/Nonna!

That's My Boy!

Okay, this is a post by Connor's Dad as I'm now known to all the family. I haven't posted since a few days after Connor was born, but I have to do a post now in order to brag on my little man....

He went to the Doctor today and here are his stats:

Weight: 17 pounds 11 ounces....60th percentile

Height: 27 inches....75th percentile

Head: 45 centimeters......................90th percentile!

Yep, he's got my head, that's my boy!

Based on these stats I'm thinking he might have gotten the best of both worlds (or at least hoping he did), he's tall (75th percentile) like my Dad, average build (60th percentile) like my awesome wife (aka Connor's Mom), smart (90th percentile to accomodate his massive brain, just like his dad), and definitely has the always happy and smiling personality of his Mom. Of course we won't really know all of this for several years, but I can brag for now.

On the move!

No Connor isnt crawling yet, but he is twisting, scooting, and rolling around everywhere! Gone are the days when I could just lay him on the floor with some toys and leave the room for a minute. He is getting to be so much fun! I find myself wanting to play with him all the time instead of doing household chores! He trys to imitate everything now and is getting VERY CURIOUS of his surroundings!
