Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

Whew...busy weekend

Sunday we stopped by Nonna and Grandy's on the way home for a nice homecooked meal and homemade birthday cake for ME! The cake was awesome, Mom! Thank you so much everyone for my gifts! Brad and Connor gave me a computer software program to do scrapbooking. That is something I have been wanting since I have come to the fact that I will never find time to do any "real" scrapbooking any time soon. Grannie, Poppa and An Am gave me an Ann Taylor giftcard! That is my all time favorite clothing store! Mom and Dad gave me lots of $$$! It is exciting to think of what I will spend it on. Something for the new house, no doubt. Brett and Hillary gave me (guess) another Ann Taylor gift card! Yaahhhh! I will get to do lots of sale shopping soon! I love when my birthday falls because you can always find great sales- clearance on summer and fall sales for back to school!

We enjoyed spending some time with Uncle Brett and Aunt Hillary, Aunt Linda, Uncle Ron, and of course Grandy and Nonna. Connor also had a great time at his Grannie and Poppa's! Thank you guys for taking such good care of him on Friday and Saturday night! An Am- thank you too! Connor just loves spending time with you all!

Here are some pictures of Connor playing with his new race car toy with his Grandy. Thank you- Brian, Benita, and Rachel! Connor LOVES his new toy!!! That was very sweet of you guys! There are also some pictures of Hillary helping Connor take some of his first steps. He loves you so much Hillary!

I officially feel "old"! I attended my 10 year high school reunion this weekend! It was great to see everyone and meet every ones family, and see how people had "changed" and "not changed"! I started off the weekend by attending my friend Nikki's baby shower on Friday night. She is having a girl and is due September 16th (I think?). Then on Friday night we went out to the "Country club" (Liz, I still think we need to suggest your idea to the city! Ha Ha!) for an informal gathering. On Saturday afternoon we met at the Rockwood Sport Complex with the families. It was wonderful to see every one's kiddos! Then on Saturday night we had dinner at Calhoun's on the lake in Lenoir City. It was very nice! Kudos to Renee, Nikki, Kendra, and Terri for organizing the whole thing. You all did a great job! I cant wait till the next in another 10 years!! Wow, I will really be ancient then!

Sorry, It's been awhile

I know, I know, I haven't done a post in a while. We have been a little busy around here. To catch everyone up, we found another house and made an offer early last week. The house was already priced great, but we decided to offer a little less and ask them to pay closing costs. They accepted in an hour!!! We were shocked, especially with everything that we went through with the previous house. However, their only stipulation was that they wouldn't accept a sales contingency. We decided to take the risk and sign the contract to buy the house. SO, our house is on the market AGAIN! We are praying that someone will buy it soon because we close on September 7th! It is kind of nice though because this gives me plenty of time to do some packing. We have had some lookers but no offers as of yet. Please PRAY for us that the perfect buyers will come along and buy it without having to sell their house first. Since the market is slow right now that could make things very interesting! Anyway, my days are filled with cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning to keep the house "show ready". I must say that this is a lot of work. I have to get up an extra 30 minutes before work just so I can clean up after myself before I leave. Hopefully I wont have to do this much longer!

Which one is NOT Connor?

Although I am sure that it most of you can figure this one out, I thought it was pretty funny to look at this! As I was looking through Connors 6 month pictures, I decided to look again at our baby pics to see the resemblances. Well as everyone knows, when Connor was first born he looked a lot like his Mama. Now, Connor is "dead on" his Daddy for sure! Yes, you guessed it! The third picture down is actually Brad when he was 6 months old!!!! Can you believe the resemblance! It will be exciting to see the comparisons as the years go by!

Enjoying the night air...

Tonight was a beautiful cool night! I say cool because it was a far cry from the HOT HUMID weather we have been having lately. Connor enjoyed sitting in the swing with his Daddy like a big boy!

My "Big Boy Cup"

Connor is doing so well on his new sippy cup! To anyone that is trying to get their baby to take one, I would strongly suggest the Nuby cup with a straw! After trying many others, this has been the only successful way to get him to drink. I think now that he has the hang of it, I might try the others without a straw and see if he can figure it out.

Hangin' with my Bro

Get outta my way, Mickey!

I am 7 months today!

Today is July 18th and that means that it is time for another "month-day"! Hard to believe that 7 months ago today Connor was being born literally right now at this very minute!!

Happy 4th Birthday Cooper!

We have another birthday to celebrate! Cooper turns 4 today! He said he was ready to be put back in the spotlight since it is his day! We will probably spend the day throwing frisbee, which is Cooper's favorite pastime! While Cooper isn't getting all of the attention these days, he is happy as ever that he has a new brother to love! Connor just loves Cooper and it is so fun to watch his face light up when he sees him! As many of you know Connor is allergic to dog saliva which makes things interesting to say the least. We are hoping that he will grow out of this because Cooper cant wait till he gets older so they can romp around in the yard together.

Happy Birthday little buddy!!

So many changes...

Last night I was sitting there watching Connor play and I couldnt believe how much he has changed in such a short period of time. He is definitely ALL BOY! As Brad and I were eating our dinner (fine dining on the coffee table) Connor was making lots of "racket" on his exersaucer with his toys. Brad looked at me and said, "Do girls play like this too?" Well, I am no expert, but with my experience I have never seen any girls play as rough as he does. Connor loves to bang his toy keys or rattles against anything he sees and usually it cracks against his own head and it doesnt even seem to phase him! He also loves to spit, belch loudly, and does his own fair share of expelling gas (aka- farting as we know it)! Here is a list of some of the new things that Connor is doing now.

  1. Screaming at the top of his lungs (he especially likes to do this in quiet places or the grocery store)

  2. Sitts up on his own (we still keep the boppy handy in case he decides to topple over)

  3. Watches Sesame Street (and loves it!)

  4. Looks at his imaginary friend (lately Connor will go cross eyed staring at something in particular in thin air, we have yet to name the mysterious being!)

  5. Sips from a sippy cup ( I say sips because he still hasnt mastered this quite yet)

  6. Eats like a champ! (Real food for lunch and dinner)

  7. Army crawls (he isnt really crawling yet, but he brings his knees under him and crawls a few inches with his arms)

  8. Rolling over, and over and over

  9. Into everything he can get his hands on! (this week he has become especially curious about everything I am holding and that is near him, his favorite the remote control!)

  10. Chuckles at his Daddy (his Dad is proud to be the ONLY one that can get Connor to laugh out loud, oh and Cooper too!)

  11. Reaches for us ( Connor now holds out his arms to reach for us when he is upset, it is so sweet!)

  12. Sleeps in till late morning( this can be a good and bad thing. Good because I can get some things done while he is still snoozing, Bad because it is a result of him not sleeping during the night.)

That is all I can think of right now, although I am sure there are many more. Connor will be 7 months old next week and I am already starting to miss my baby! Dont worry, there wont be any more on the way just yet!

Here are some pics from last night. NOTICE: the drool on his shirt. He will have some teeth any day now!
