Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

Tummy Time

Connor is getting stronger and stronger everyday. He is holding his head up pretty well now. I have been putting him on his tummy for him to strengthen his neck muscles. His legs are so strong that he is pushing up to stand when you hold him. He is definitely a busy little fella. Lord help me when he becomes mobile!

Connor also had fun playing with his toys tonight! He is starting to smile and coo more and more everyday. Here are a few pictures of him playing. Enjoy!

I should be napping...

I cant believe it, but Connor is 6 weeks old today! Time has certainly flown by! I went for my 6 wk postpartum checkup today and got released from my doctor. I can finally start exercising to get the rest of this weight off. YEAH! No more excuses with the treadmill in the bonus room. I will start work in a couple of weeks and I am dreading the first few days. It is going to be the hardest thing ever to leave my baby for the day. I am praying for God to give me the strength to do this! I am only going back part time and I am so thankful for that.

As you can tell I am feeding Connor well! He is starting to get a little chunky. I love it though, it makes him that much more cuddly! Here are some pictures of him sleeping. Love it when they sleep! Now if I would just nap with him...

Our Family Portrait (with the new addition)

It is hard to believe that all of our family pictures now will have "3" people in them! Here are some that we had made when Connor was 4 weeks old.

Gotcha Daddy!

Connor found his thumb

Connor is going to be a thumb sucker like his Mama was, I am afraid. He has actually been sucking it since he was in the hospital, but this is the first picture I could capture of it. It is nice now that he can soothe himself, but I know first hand how it can ruin the shape of your mouth. My parents had to pay for various appliances for my mouth including braces. I had a baby blanket that I would hold and rub while I sucked on my thumb. My Mom actually got me to get rid of it by telling me one Easter that the Easter bunny needed it to keep her babies warm. Of course I had to leave it in my Easter basket the night before. However, it wasnt for several years later that I stopped sucking my thumb. Hopefully, I wont have to go through this with Connor even though it is a sweet story.

Connor's First Overnight Trip

This weekend was Connor's first overnight trip to his Nonna and Grandy's house (my parents). He also had a lot of fun going to Great Aunt Linda and Uncle Ron's house in Gallatin. We went to see their house that they have been restoring. It was beautiful! Connor is pooped from his busy day yesterday and we have been trying to rest today. Connor is also 5 weeks old today! He is starting to look more and more like Brad everyday!

Playtime

Connor loves his new aquarium play gym! Right now he doesnt do much but just look at it, but he is moving his arms and kicking his feet as hard as can be. It won't be long till he can grasp the toys at the top. Thanks Grannie for Connors fun toy!

Little hands and feet...

One of my most favorite things about babies is their hands and feet! I love kissing them! COnnor surprised us when he was born with his big hands and feet. He has incredibly long fingers and toes! We are not sure where he gets this from, probably his Poppa (Brads dad). We think he is going to be a great basketball player one day. Now he just had to grow up to be tall. We aren't holding our breath for this one. We will see...

Picture Time

Here are some pictures from last Friday after we had some professional pictures made. He was worn out! It was quite an eventful day! I would tell the whole story, but that would require me to write a book. The short and condensed version is that Connor managed to pee in Brads mouth for a picture, on the photographer's pillow for props, and he pooped on me and Brad twice! We had some black and white pictures made that required him to be completely naked. However, you know with little boys that you are asking to be sprayed at any given time! Well, Connor thought he would show us a thing or two about getting these pictures without a fuss. By the end of the shoot he did well, he was all pooped out! No pun intended... We cant wait to get the pictures back in a couple of weeks. There should be some really good ones, including the one where Connor pee's in his daddys mouth! Ha!

Connor is 1 month old

Yes, it is hard to believe that Connor was a month old yesterday! I cant believe how fast time is going by and how fast he is changing and growing. It makes me sad to think that he is only getting bigger. He is still eating every 2-3 hours, sometimes even more. He is starting to fill out more and can even wear some of his 3 month clothes.

We have started to get out more. Last weekend we even went to the mall! It was nice. Brad pushed him around in the stroller while I shopped in the stores. Connor didnt know what was going on, as he slept the whole time. He loves his carseat! Any time we need him to go to sleep, we put him in there. It seems to work most of the time. However, we have learned not to get him out and wake him up unless I am ready to feed him ASAP. He is always ready to eat right away. He is a great baby though and we are having fun at home together! I love to snuggle with him in the mornings. I usually feed him at 6:00 and put him in my bed next to me. He seems to like sleeping there. I only do this in the mornings though when Brad is up to go to work. I am a pretty quiet sleeper and don't move much, however Brad is NOT.

Hope everyone is doing well in the New Year! Bye for now...

Bathtime

Connor loves his bathtime! He loves to soak in the warm water and is so content while I do a little scrubbing. This is definitely one of my favorite times to spend with him!

Connor smiles

Here are some pictures of Connor from the past week. He is going to be three weeks old on Monday. I cant believe it! It is going by so fast! I am enjoying being at home with him and watching him change day by day. He is still eating well and seems to be going through a growth spurt right now. The past two nights he has woken me up every 2 hours for feedings. Whew! It is tiring but all worth it.

I love the picture of Connor cracking a smile. Sure he probably doesn't mean to, but I like to think he is dreaming pleasant dreams!
