Thatcher's Story

Thatcher's Story
I didn't want this to get lost in my list of posts, so I am creating a place so that everyone can easily access this link. Please read this touching story about baby Thatcher, our friends son who was born with a rare liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant. Jessie has worked closely with Brad for over 4 years and I became friends with her while working at WSA until I left last spring. Thatcher was born a month before Braden and this story really hits home for me. When I look at Braden I think about how incredibly lucky I am. This could just as easily be our him going through this. Jessie will most likely be the living donor for Thatcher and they are in need of our prayers! I promise you will be touched by reading this story. Thanks!

What a ham!

Connor has up cracking up these days! He has changed so much just this week. Yesterday he learned how to roll over on his side and today he discovered how to put his foot in his mouth! This may not seem like a big deal to everyone, but we were starting to get worried because he hadnt made an attempt to roll over until last night. He is getting really close to sitting up as well! Boy I cant wait till we dont have to cart the Bumbo around any longer! That will be such a blessing! Connor definitely has a little personality on him! Since this is my first child it is hard to say what my favorite age will be, but right now I am loving the stage Connor is in right now! He laughs at everything I do, but cant talk back or cant move around! What more could I ask for?! I know that very soon, he will be mobile so I am trying to savor every moment!!!

Way to go Julianne!!

This week was the finale of "Dancing with the Stars" and for those of you who dont know Apollo and Julianne won! The exciting thing about this for us is that Julianne is the sister of one of our friends here in Spring Hill! I met Julianne a couple of years ago before her stardom on the show and she is every bit as cute and sweet as she appears on TV!! Here is a clip that made the Nashville news on Monday night. It was filmed at our friends house, although Marabeth was in LA for the finale! Some of our friends Jon and Beth are in the background (they owned the store Final Touch that I used to work at). We cant wait to see what Julianne will do next with her dancing career!!!

On the road again...

This weekend we took another trip back home to visit Brad's parents, sister and the rest of the family. We spent our time outside enjoying the beautiful weather by the lake. It was a little too cool to get in the water but it was just nice to be out there. Cooper went along for the first time in a long long time. He ran straight to the lake for a swim! He absolutely loves the water! We have to try to coax him out every time because he would spend literally the whole day down there. Here are some pictures of our drive down there and Connor playing with his cousin Kaitlyn that just turned 1! They lots of fun checking each other out!

night night, sleep tight...

Here are some pictures of Connor winding down for the night before bedtime with his doggy blanket. Oh so cuddly!!!

Bye, Bye Melinda!

Last night was the last night for Melinda on American Idol for those of you who have been hiding behind a rock... It was tragic for the Thompson household, as we just knew she would make it to the finale if not WIN the whole thing! We were so disappointed and shocked as you can see from Connors expression. For real, these pictures were taken right after they revealed the results and it was so cute! Connor looked genuinely concerned! As for Melinda, we aren't worried because we know she will have great opportunities in front of her soon!

By the way, did I mention that Connor will be 5 MONTHS OLD tomorrow!!! I cant believe it! He is just growing up way too fast! Also, he is a very big boy weighing a whopping 16 pounds and 8 ounces! I couldn't believe it when we went to the doctor this week. No wonder my muscles are getting bigger by the day!!! Ha!

Connor's 1st Conference Call

Today Daddy had way too much to do and too little time, so Connor was called in to help! Doesn't he just look like a little man? Too bad he didnt have on his buisness suit, he would have really fit the part!

Actually the truth of the events today is kind of a long story... Last night Brad and I decided that Connor needed to go see the doctor because his cold was still not gone and he had developed a terrible cough this weekend. So I got up this morning and called in but couldnt get in to see her until 11:30. Dr. Nania said that Connors throat and chest sounded good, however she said was starting to develop an ear infection and that was the cause of his low grade fever. This caught me by surprise since I was always told that breastfed babies didnt get ear infections. You would have never had known Connor wasnt well because he was his usual happy self! The doctor told me I was lucky to have such a happy, easy going boy. She said that most likely he got it since he has had a cold for a while now. Brad and I have both been sick at one time or another pretty much since Valentines Day! We are so ready to get well!!! However, it is hard to do when you dont get sleep! Anyway, back to my story... I called in to work and told them that I would be taking the day off because I still had to pick up his prescriptions and it was already 12:30. Apparently someone from the Atlanta office had called in that morning asking if someone could go to Franklin, KY to take some pictures of a road project they were pursuing and there wasnt anyone available to go. Well I think you know the rest... At 1:30 I was on the road to go to Kentucky. I was thinking that Connor would probably sleep the whole way since he hadnt had a nap the whole day. He was a trooper! The pictures were taken when we went back to the office to download the pictures to send. Whew, what a crazy day! Definitely not what I expected when I woke up this morning! I am looking forward to a day at home tomorrow to catch up on household chores. Hope everyone had a Happy Monday!

Connor enjoying the outdoors

I am behind on my posts and meant to put these pictures on here last week but it has been kind of crazy around here. Anyhow, here are some pictures of Connor relaxing in his Bumbo under one of our only shade trees. He was very interested in the texture of the grass and loved watching me water the flowers that we planted last weekend. I have to say it was GREAT getting to work in the yard again for the first time in over a year to do some landscaping. Last year we had so much going on with yard projects but I had just found out I was pregnant so I didnt feel like doing much. I pushed Connor around in the stroller while I worked in each of the beds and he was a champ! I was amazed! I can only hope that he continues with this. We havent gotten much rain lately and I need the water the flowers at least every other day and it is hard with a 4 1/2 month old! I am so glad that it is finally warm to stay and the flowers are in full bloom!!

My "mini" Cooper

Before Connor was born we bought this stuffed animal that looks identical to Cooper hoping that Connor would grow to love his real brother Cooper as much as we did. I dont know if it helped but Connor does LOVE his doggy Cooper! He loves to watch him run around the house when we are playing 'chase" with him. This is one of Coopers favorite games! I can already see visions of them running around together when Connor starts toddling! It is going to be wild around here to say the least. I cant wait for Cooper to finally have a friend that might have as much energy as he does! Here are some pictures of Connor playing with his "mini" Cooper the other night!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!

Here are some pictures of the weekend and of my FAVORITE mothers! Happy Mothers Day to all!

Something new to look at

Connor loves his new Rainforest interactive crib toy! He gets very quiet when we turn it on, however you had better be close when it goes off because he will cry until it comes back on. There is a push button for him to turn it on, I dont know why he cant figure it out?! Ha Ha! I wonder what the manufacturers were thinking when they did this? I guess it will work when he gets a little older. Thanks Grannie, he is enjoying his new toy! Since Connor is having such a hard time sleeping we thought this might help. Well, we are still waiting, but for now it is nice to be able to clean his room while he watches the rainforest. I am afraid I may never get sleep again...

Rub a dub dub...I have a new tub!

Connor was getting quite WILD in the tub, so I had to get something with a little more cushion so that he wouldnt knock himself out when he is playing during bathtime! He is more squirmy than ever and has so much fun kicking and splashing in the water! I think Connor is going to love the lake this summer by the way he enjoys bathtime! He loves it! The rubber ducky tub was recommended to me and I love it so far. The beak quacks and Connor just thinks it is hilarious! This was one of the best $10 I have spent in a while.

(Note: notice the washcloth was very carefully placed...We didnt want this post to be X-rated!

Whoohoo, I am a handsome boy!

Here are some pictures of Connor admiring himself in the mirror last night. He must think he is just the cutest thing ever (of course he is!) because he just smiles and laughs at his reflection! I wonder what he is thinking, if he knows he is looking at his own face! It is just the cutest! I especially love it when he spots me and gives me a big grin! (Sorry, I know there is a glare but the camera wouldnt focus without using the flash.)
